Sophomore midfielder Michelle Nguyen has been named an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar.

The awards were inspired by tennis legend Arthur Ashe Jr.'s commitment to education, as well as his love for the game of tennis. In addition to their athletic ability, Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars must exhibit academic excellence and community activism.
Nguyen, a fourth-team choice in women's soccer, led the MWC in conference matches with three assists and 0.43 assists per contest. She was fifth in league play with three goals and 1.29 points per match. Nguyen had two assists, including the match-winner, in a victory over No. 22 Utah. She also scored the game-winning goal against Texas Tech. Overall, she posted five goals and six assists on the year and was named to Top Drawer Soccer's Women's College Team of the Week following her two goal effort against Air Force.
