Soccer honored by NSCAA

Senior Lizzy Karoly and junior Jackie Torda were honored on Friday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as members of the honorable mention NSCAA Division I Scholar All-South Region team.
The TCU women's soccer program also received word that for the fourth-consecutive year the squad was recognized with the NSCAA Team Academic Award.

Torda, who was named second team all-conference this fall, netted four goals on the season, while dishing out one assist. The junior led the TCU offensive attack during conference play, ranking in the top 10 in four different offensive categories. She netted two of the Horned Frogs three goals, including the game-winner in a 3-2 overtime victory at UNLV on Oct. 23 to earn Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Karoly, who earlier this fall earned second-team CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District honors, scored five goals, while dishing out one assist in 2009 to become TCU's all-time leader in goals scored for a career. Overall, she recorded a total of 37 shot attempts over the course of the season, while closing her career ranked in the top 10 in the conference in points-per-game, goals and goals-per-game.

TCU was one of 335 universities to receive the academic award.

To be eligible for the NSCAA Team Academic Award a team must have a team GPA of at least 3.0 for the 2008-09 academic year.
