ABOUT THE GAME
*No. 6 TCU opens its 2010 campaign against No. 24 Oregon State in one of just two games featuring ranked teams on the opening Saturday of the season (No. 18 North Carolina vs. No. 21 LSU).
*The Horned Frogs have their highest preseason ranking in school history.
*TCU is 13-3 in its last 16 games against teams from BCS automatic-qualifying conferences.
*Since 2003, TCU's 12 wins over teams from conferences with automatic BCS bids trail only Navy (15) and Utah (14).
*In Oregon State and Baylor, TCU will face at least two opponents from BCS AQ conferences for the eighth consecutive season.

SERIES NOTES
*TCU and Oregon State are meeting for the first time on the gridiron.
*The Frogs and Beavers last faced each other in athletics competition on the baseball diamond in the 2009 Fort Worth Regional. TCU won 5-4 in the championship game to advance to the Super Regionals for the first time in program history.

VERSUS THE PAC-10
*TCU is 3-0 versus Pac-10 teams with
Gary Patterson as head coach.
*The Frogs posted a 13-10 overtime win at Arizona in 2003, before a pair of victories over Stanford in a home-and-home series during the 2007 and 2008 campaigns.
*One of the more significant victories in Patterson's 12 seasons at TCU was a 28-19 win over Pac-10 member USC in the 1998 Sun Bowl. It came in Patterson's first year as the Frogs' defensive coordinator. TCU was 1-10 the previous season.
*The Frogs are 9-11 in their history versus Pac-10 foes.

NOTING THE HORNED FROGS
*TCU returns 16 starters (nine offensive, seven defensive) and 54 lettermen from last season's 12-1 team that made its first BCS appearance with a trip to the Fiesta Bowl.
*The Frogs closed the 2009 campaign with a No. 6 ranking and have finished in the top 10 three times in the last five seasons.
*TCU has won at least 10 games six times in the last eight years, including five seasons with at least 11 victories.
*The Frogs are 26-3 in their last 29 games.
*Last year's TCU squad posted the first 12-win regular season in program history. The 1935 national champions were 12-1 after a 3-2 victory over LSU in the Sugar Bowl.
*TCU had its first perfect regular season since the 1938 national championship team went 10-0, before closing the campaign at 11-0 after a 15-7 Sugar Bowl win over Carnegie Tech.
*Prior to its Fiesta Bowl loss, TCU had won 14 in a row for the nation's second-longest current winning streak at the time (Texas, 17). It was the Frogs' longest run of victories since winning the final three games in 1937 and all 11 contests in their 1938 national championship campaign.
*TCU's last seven victories have been by at least 27 points.
