Girls showed up with a great energy today as the excitement for the 2009 season kicked in. The first day of training always brings such a wide array of emotions, but fun was definitely on top of the list today. The effort was exceptional as we started with a bit of fitness-it was extremely impressive to see everyone come in as fit as they did. It's always nice to have that base so we can focus more on playing rather than having to run. We then opened things up and just let them play 3v3 for most of the rest of the session. We mixed up the teams every 5 minutes so we could see different players in different situations.
Ended up with Michelle Nguyen winning all 5 games she played, while Jackie Torda picked up 4 wins. In goal freshman Kira Michelson-Bartlett ended up winning 4 games, but returner Kelsey Walters looked extremely sharp as well.Tonight we'll jump back it and spend some time playing again-more to just let the girls get to know each other and for us to sit back and see what all works.
