TCU sophomore forward Jordan Calhoun and sophomore defender Katie Taylor have been named Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.
Calhoun, a native of Norman, Okla., scored the game-winning goal in the 85th minute to give TCU a 2-1 victory over No. 15 Texas. The win by the Horned Frogs snapped the Longhorn's 26-match home unbeaten streak at Mike A. Myers Field. Calhoun scored both of TCU's goals in the game, putting the Horned Frogs on the board early in the match when she found the back of the net in the fifth minute of the contest.
Taylor, an Escondido, Calif., native, led a TCU defense that held the Longhorns to just seven shot attempts for the entire match, including only four on goal. With the score knotted at 1-1 in the second half, Taylor and the Horned Frog defense limited Texas to only three shot attempts for the entire half. The first shot attempt by Texas in the second half was blocked by the defense, which came with only 17 minutes remaining in the match.
