The TCU Athletics Department has named soccer's Kelsey Walters and football's Colin Jones as its Scholar-Athletes of the Month for September.
Walters, a nutrition senior, earned Mountain West Conference Player of the Week honors earlier this month. In September, she recorded three shutouts, including one against then No. 17 Memphis.
With her effort at Memphis, Walters moved into third place on TCU's all-time shutout list. Additionally, she shut out opponents in the second on four occasions during September. Overall in September, Walters grabbed 19 saves and recorded a .760 save percentage.
Jones, a communications senior, racked up 22 tackles during the month of September. He tallied his season high of seven tackles in wins over Baylor and SMU.
Against Tennessee Tech and Baylor, Jones recorded 1.5 tackles for loss. The Bridgeport, Texas, native, who was limited to just seven games a year ago due to injury, started three of four games during the month of September.
