TCU moved to 5-0-1 with an exciting 2-1 overtime win over Rice. It was an action packed game in which we out shot Rice 30-10, but the game went both ways. Rice took the lead in the 49th minute on a miscommunication with our back line, but our girls battled back and started taking advantage of the width we had. Lizzy Karoly got the equalizer on a great follow up of Katie Taylor set piece. Regulation ended 1-1.
Overtime, is when the team took over, with Jackie Torda and Michelle Nguyen both giving the team a huge spark. We had a ferocious attack in both overtime periods, resulting in 5 corner kicks and a ton of great goal scoring opportunities. Rice's goalkeeper came up with 3 or 4 big time saves to keep the game going until late in the second OT where Torda followed up a great save to stick in the game winner!
It was a great character win against a very good opponent and I was proud of how the team responded. Next up is East Tennessee State University which is just as important of a game!
