TCU To Play Match vs Mexico

The TCU women's soccer program will host the Mexican National Team on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.

The 7 p.m. match against the Mexican National Team will mark the first time in TCU history that one of the premier national teams in the world has made its way to Fort Worth. Horned Frog sophomore Kaylie Garcia, who netted two goals and dished out four assists in 2008, is currently playing for Mexico this summer and could possibly play for both TCU and the National Team in the exhibition.

"We are excited about the opportunity to test ourselves against a full National team that is preparing for World Cup and Olympic qualifying," said head coach Dan Abdalla. "It is even more exciting with Kaylie Garcia starting to work her way into their squad. She'll maybe play a half with both teams."

The Mexican National Team is currently ranked No. 22 in the FIFA/Coca-Cola Women's World Rankings and closed out 2008 finishing third overall in the CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualification. Overall, the squad has reached the medal round in three-consecutive Pan American Games, winning once, while also being the first team from a Spanish-speaking country to qualify for both the women's World Cup and Olympic Games.

TCU is coming off its best season ever in 2008. The Horned Frogs set a single-season school record for victories with a 14-4-2 record en route to its first-ever national ranking.
